Firefox 13 is almost here and one of the things it introduces ishidden away under the hood, support for SDPY enabled by default. SPDY, as the name suggests, speeds up connections to SPDY-enabled servers which for now means Google, Twitter and a handfulof others.
But SPDY is the future, it is on its way of becoming the foundation for HTTP 2.0. It's not complete yet, Google and the people behind it are already working on improved version, like the third draft of the SPDY specifications.
Google Chrome is already supporting the latest draft version and Google is implementing it in its servers. Now, Firefox 15 has gained support for SPDY/3 as well, in the latest Nightly builds.
SPDY/3 has several improvements over the original SPDY specs, sincethe team is still learning what works and what doesn't, and there will be future versions. The important thing though is to have it supported by browsers and websites well before it becomes standard.
